Today officially marks four trips around the sun for my oldest baby girl.
I'd ask if the next four years will fly by as quickly as the first, but I think I already know the answer. And so, I'll share this story instead...
Yesterday we had lots of tears. Rory didn't understand why she wouldn't be magically six inches taller when she woke up on her birthday. I guess in her mind, turning four meant she would suddenly be bigger than she is right now. I tried to explain it to her, but didn't have much luck. I'm sure it's a weird thing for kids to comprehend... how can you turn a whole year older when there is actually no difference at all from one day to the next?
She wants so badly to be "big" and I'm over here trying to figure out how to keep her little. So I guess we will both just sit here with our emotions for a minute, shedding a tear for very different reasons.
Happy Birthday, Rory Elizabeth! I hope you never lose your sparkle <3
